Brewed by the ladies of The Brewtorium using the 2020 Pink Boots Society hop blend, this appropriately hazy IPA is bursting with notes of peach, pineapple, apricot & mango hop flavor & aroma balanced by a rounded bitterness.
Review
Aroma – 10/12
Mango and tangerine at a medium -high level. Slight crackery and bread dough malt character. There’s a lower level of peach or another stone fruit as well. A few light whiffs of alcohol
Appearance – 3/3
Pours a pale straw colored liquid. A heavy haze obscures the glass. Fine white bubbles make up a 3cm head. It persists with decent retention.
Flavor – 16/20
Orange citrus, mango, pineapple at a medium-high level. Lesser notes of white wine grapes, and a touch of mint. A light doughy malt character fills in the midtaste with a low sweetness. Moderate bitterness joins the back end of the taste. The finish is slow, leaving behind a light fruit note and bitterness. Balance is greatly towards the hops.
Mouthfeel – 5/5
Medium full bodied, yet soft throughout the taste. There’s a nice pillowy quality without being heavy. Moderate carbonation. Zero astringency with a some of alcohol warmth.
Overall Impression – 8/10
This is a tasty IPA. The Pink Boots blend of hops this year really meshes well together. A little contrasting hop note would probably elevate this, but you can’t really do that when you’re solely using a blend. I really love the body on this, all of the big pillowy without the thick heavy.
Rating – 42/50
Probably my favorite hoppy beer from the Brewtorium so far. For their first can release, this turned out great!
