Review

Aroma – 11/12

A bouquet of tropical aromas hits the nose at a medium high level.   Almost like a fruit cocktail, a guava passionfruit note mixes with bright citric note and acidity.   A woody, nutty coconut character rounds out end of the smell.  The wheat character is there too.

Appearance – 2/3

The liquid pours a bright, almost neon yellow with a thick haze.  Stark white, medium and large bubbles makes up a loosely packed head that collapses fairly quickly.

Flavor – 20/20

Tropical fruit is the key player in the flavor.  A medium high passionfruit and kumquat strikes the tongue first.  The acidity follows this at a medium level, bringing citrus and pineapple notes.  A coconut character is also present that hints at nutmeg.  Towards the finish, doughy wheat flavors come out, and softly fade away with the acidity.  Low bitterness with a medium/low sweetness.

Mouthfeel – 5/5

Medium full bodied, with a bit of creaminess.  Medium high carbonation hits the front of the tongue.   Finish is soft and causes a slight mouth watering.

Overall Impression – 9/10

All of the flavor components are so well balanced here.  The coconut, passionfruit and pineapple are all present and create more than the sum of their parts.   Getting the head to last a bit longer is really the only fault I could fine.

Rating – 47/50

This beer does a great job of replicating a tropical tiki drink.  Everything here worked so harmoniously. This seems much more polished than the sour cherry version, with the base beer being in check with the fruits.
